After months of brainstorming and dozens of rejected ideas Glenrowan finally has a cover design.
The collaboration between myself and Matthew Holmes has resulted in what I think is a cover that will stand out from the crowd and gives an accurate vibe for the story as it is told in the book. The important aspect of the process was being open and constructive in all things. Any objection either of us had to an idea was reasoned and heard. I admit it was a little disappointing to see some of my designs go by the wayside, but in the end it was important to get this right and ego is nothing but a barrier to achievement and it was definitely worth the angst to get such a great result.

Matthew has been a huge supporter of this project and was always more than willing to muck in and help. Though we didn’t agree on everything he challenged me where necessary, which is what authors need. This cover design actually really reflects the nature of our working relationship really well and I’m proud to have it as the first point of contact between the reader and my words and illustrations.
There’s not long to go before this thing is out in the world and it’s nerve wracking. With the way 2020 is going I feel like since the start of July it’s been not unlike the opening sequence of Revenge of the Sith.

At any rate, I look forward to seeing this physically sitting in my hand very soon. Just a little more work to do…
