Description:

* “Joseph Byrne wore grey tweed paget coat, brown tweed trousers and vest, Rob Roy shirt, black tie, elastic side boots, and light felt hat.” (December 1878)

* “Byrne stands nearly six feet high, long features, fair complexion, and an effeminate cast of countenance, and of a nervous disposition; his manner is quiet, and he appears to a casual observer an inoffensive man.” (February 1879)

* “Joseph Byrne, 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, thin build, fair complexion and hair, small whiskers, beard, and moustache of same color, grey eyes, active appearance, has a peculiar swagger when walking ; dressed in light tweed paget suit, and light felt hat with turned-down crown.” (March 1879)
